Personal License

What is a Personal License?

A personal license is the option for individual developers who purchase it with their own funds. It is non-transferable and not available to a company or to individuals expecting reimbursement from a company. The personal license can be used only by the person who purchased it. It can be installed on different machines, but the software cannot be used on different machines at the same time, nor by different people. Personal licenses are not available for resellers.

What do you get when purchasing a personal license?

For personal licenses, users can choose among three options:

1.) PHP Tools for Visual Studio 2.) PHP Tools for VS Code 3.) PHP Tools for All Platforms (VS + VS Code)

All options include:

  • 12-month subscription for the purchased platform, including access to all updates and new versions.
  • **12 months of Professional Support***
  • Perpetual fallback license, allowing indefinite use of the version available at the time of purchase or 12 months before subscription expiration.

New: Users can now also choose a monthly subscription. Features of the monthly subscription:

  • Monthly payment with continuous access to updates and support while the subscription is active.
  • Perpetual fallback is granted automatically after 12 consecutive months of subscription.
  • If the monthly subscription is paused or cancelled before reaching 12 months, perpetual fallback is not granted.

After the subscription period (annual or monthly) ends, if you do not renew, you will no longer receive updates or support, but you can continue using the versions covered by the perpetual fallback license.

*Support refers to Devsense’s tools for Visual Studio 2010–2026 or VS Code, and does not refer to support for Visual Studio’s IDE.

Can I use a personal license for commercial purposes or commercial development?

Yes. The personal license can be used for any type of development. However, it is not available for companies and it is non-transferable. Find out more in our License Comparison table.

Can a company use a personal license?

No. Personal licenses are available only for the use of the person who purchased it, not for other people or a company.

Can I use my personal license on different machines, for example, at work and at home?

Yes. You can install it on different machines and use it both at work or at home, on a laptop or a desktop computer. It cannot be used on these different machines at the same time, or used by another person. It can be used on different machines provided that only the licensed person uses it.
