Personal License
What is a Personal License?
A personal license is the option for individual developers that purchase it with their own funds. It is non-transferable and not available to a company or to individuals that expect reimbursement from a company. The personal license can be used only by the person who purchased it. It can be installed on different machines, but the software cannot be used on different machines at the same time, neither can it be used by different people. Personal licenses are not available for resellers.
What do you get when purchasing a personal license?
For personal licenses, users can choose among three options:
1) PHP Tools for Visual Studio
When purchasing a personal license only for PHP Tools for Visual Studio, you will get:
- A permanent license of PHP Tools for Visual Studio
- 12 months of Professional Support
- 12 months of Upgrades
- Support* for VS 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2022
Our personal license includes 1 year of free product upgrades and technical support since the purchase date. After this period, you may continue to use PHP Tools but are no longer entitled to free updates. In order to continue receiving updates you will need to renew the Maintenance and Support Subscription (highly recommended).

2) PHP Tools for VS Code
When purchasing a personal license only for PHP Tools for VS Code, you will get:
- 12- month license for PHP Tools for VS Code
- 12 months of Professional Support
- 12 months of Upgrades
- Support* for VS 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2022
Our personal license includes 1 year of free product upgrades and technical support since the purchase date. After this period, you need to renew your subscription in order to continue to use PHP Tools for VS Code.

3) All platforms
When purchasing a personal license, you will get:
- A permanent license for PHP Tools for Visual Studio

Can I use a personal license for commercial purposes or commercial development?
Yes. The personal license can be used for any type of development. However, it is not available for companies and it is non-transferable. Find out more in our License Comparison table.
Can a company use a personal license?
No. Personal licenses are available only for the use of the person who purchased it, not for the use of different persons or a company.
Can I use my personal license on different machines, for example, at work and at home?
Yes. You can install it on different machines and use it both at work or at home, on a laptop or a desk computer, but it cannot be used on these different machines at the same time, or used by another person. It can be used on different machines provided that only the licensed person uses it.
